Segway into the Work Week

Here we see a police officer on one of two Segway Personal Transporters owned by the City of Greensboro. According to Wikipedia, a Segway is, “a two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicle invented by Dean Kamen. It is produced by Segway, Inc. of New Hampshire, USA.” The Segway was unveiled in 2001 and is designed to mimic humans walking. It balances upright; when the rider leans forward, the vehicle rolls forward. Learn more about them here or here. The two officers using the Segways this weekend at the Day of the Children Festival in Center City Park seemed adept at maneuvering them.

As language lovers, we want to tell you that the homophone “segue” in Italian and Portuguese means “follows” or “a smooth transition.” That line down the road is leading us straight to Mellow Yellow Monday!
