Ornamental Cabbage II

This ornamental cabbage is planted at University Square, the dorms (currently) owned by Greensboro College and located across the street from Sunday’s nativity scene. Over the past year on our blog, the first ornamental cabbage that we posted last February is one of GDP’s most searched pictures! The cabbages are a nice burst of color this time of year. Ornamental cabbage is usually bitter to taste. Through years of assiduous cultivation, color and form have taken priority over flavor! Usually, they are grown from seed and started in July or August. Alternatively, you can find them at your local garden center!

We consider this a ruby center so we’re joining in on Ruby Tuesday!
