Here we see the BIG painted rock on the Greensboro College campus. The back side says “Have a Great Summer.” The side visible above looks like a graffitied, foil-covered baked potato! On many school campuses in the USA, these rocks are installed so that students spray paint their messages in an approved area. Many campuses have their own BIG ROCK traditions. For example, usually graduating seniors post a message for their class; students who have died tragically are remembered; competing teams paint unwanted messages on the opponents’ rock. Now that the fall semester is underway, likely this BIG ROCK at Greensboro College has a new look. What are your school’s traditions for students making their mark? Have you ever been involved in painting one? Would you like to have one in your yard?
