The Wyndham Championship is in full swing at the Sedgefield Country Club. The tournament was founded in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open.
We had the opportunity to observe most of the back 9 yesterday, the day of the Professional-Amatuer games. Over the last 88 years, the event has been held at Sedgefield, Starmount, Forest Oaks and now back at Sedgefield. This is the final tournament of the regular PGA season. * If we remember correctly, the above photo was taken at the 18th hole.
Yesterday was Pro-Am Day. Amateurs had the opportunity to play against professionals. The event is quite an honor for the selected amateurs and the pros have a low-stakes way to get (re)acquainted with the course. The pro tournament starts today and ends on Sunday. This is a contract renewal year. Let’s hope it remains in Greensboro.
