Today’s photo features the overpass above Fulton Street, just off West Gate City Boulevard, where the graffiti from yesterday is sprayed. “Oprah” is down on the right. Quite possibly, the Oprah graffiti is already gone. You can see from white splotches on the cement walls that quite a bit of graffiti has been painted over.

Above, the overpass and the train in motion reminds us why Greensboro is known as “The Gate City.” In the late 1800s, Greensboro became a major railroad and transportation hub: North/south and east/west. Today, about 12 Amtrack passenger trains come through the city daily. According to the Federal Railroad Association, on a heavy freight day, as many as 40 trains pass through the area. Those who work downtown or live near a railroad track likely know this information. Have you ever taken Amtrack out of Greensboro? This is a fun tradition to have with family and friend groups.
