Happy Memorial Day, a day when we honor the military personnel who died while serving the Armed Services of the USA. Today, there will be activities happening at the Field of Honor in Kernersville. Many organizations and families will be holding special events. Flag etiquette requires that flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon to honor the fallen. At noon, they will be raised to the top of the staff until sunset.

The above photo features a flag on North Elm Street on Saturday taken from the parking lot of the Kontoor Brands, Inc. The business in the background, LUXE, is a soulfood restaurant and cocktails for young adults. It has opened there since 2015.

If you have been in Greensboro over the last couple of decads, you might remember Ganache Bakery was in that location previously. Ganache closed in 2011. So much has changed over the decades, but one thing, hopefully, will never change. May Memorial Day always be the last Monday in May.
