An Evening with Morgan Radford

Last night, the Greensboro Public Library, Greensboro History Museum, Greensboro Bound, and Scuppernong Books hosted an informative evening with Greensboro native Morgan Redford, who returned home to promote her novel, Now Then. A graduate of Grimsley High School as well as Harvard and Columbia Universities, Morgan is currently an NBC News anchor on maternity leave.

This worldly and articulate journalist challenged herself to write a work of fiction and spoke to an auditorium filled with supporters. Childhood caregivers, teachers from her Montessori and Grimsley years, high school and college friends, family friends, and many others gathered to hear her reflections and learn about the creation of her dual-timeline novel, which connects a Harvard student with her mother’s secret past in Cuba.

Morgan spoke fondly of her formative years in Greensboro, describing the city’s foundation in Quaker principles of inclusion and the kindness of its people as Greensboro’s true currency. As a journalist, Morgan is grounded in facts and truth, but Now Then pushed her to refine her prose and storytelling skills — and she succeeded beautifully. Stop by Scuppernong Books on South Elm and pick up a copy.

Happy Saturday!
