Sunset in Greensboro

For the past two nights, the sunsets in Greensboro have been stunning. Above you see the western sky at the horizon with bright orange and yellow stripes. The colors fade to bluish-gray away high above the horizon. Yesterday wasn’t predicted to be an especially sunny day, but the sun sure did put on a show for us at sunset.

As we look at the sky, we are thinking of North Carolina’s own Cristina Hammock Koch, the NASA astronaut, currently returning from the far side of the moon on the Artemis II mission. Astronaut Koch is from Jacksonville, NC; she attended the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, and then NC State University. While not from Greensboro, inspired by the words of North Carolina author Fred Chappel, we will say that as a North Carolinian, “She is one of us forever.” Three more sunsets and sunrises until you and the crew return to earth this Friday.*

Happy Tuesday!
