MLK Parade 2026

Monday was such a busy day. One of the main events was the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade on MLK Drive. There were approximately 100 entries, including vehicles, bands, fraternaties and sororities, religious organizations, politicians, civic groups, cartoon characters, and more.

It seems that bands and crowds were smaller now; however, those who participated in the parade and the spectators were glad to be there to recognize the civil rights strides made by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The above Toyota truck, representing St. Matthews Church at 600 East Florida Street, could have opened the parade with that lovely poster of Dr. King. Between the annual MLK Breakfast, the monks arriving to Guilford County on their Walk for Peace, and the many opportunities for service to community, we hope you had a meaningful federal holiday. Pace yourself, as the next one is February 16th, Washington’s Birthday.

Happy Wednesday!
