DAILY BREAD FLOUR

The DAILY BREAD FLOUR building at 816 South Elm Street is so eye-catching with this colorful lighting at night. Known as Mill Entertainment Complex, the building has a variety of entertainment options. The Continental Club and the Back Table Coffee Shop are now well established here.

This building was originally the North State Milling Company, founded in 1912. It manufactured plain and self-rising cornmeal, flour, and other products useful to farmers. On their Facebook Page, Preservation Greensboro has more information about the historic building. Keeping the signage and facade of the building is a lovely nod to its mill history. Currently, there is a 3-acre parking lot on the corner between the building and Gate City Boulevard. Plans are in the works to build apartments on that lot (seeHERE). If that happens, we’ll sure miss this view. Gate City Boulevard Between South Elm and Josephine Boyd Street is changing before our eyes.
