Along W. McGee St.

A couple of weeks ago, we were walking in Downtown Greensboro and the bright sun and intense shadows drew our attention to this artwork by @NatalieRobinson_art. According to her “about” page, Natalie is “a traveling muralist who transforms public spaces into vibrant, story-driven environments” (see HERE). She describes her art as pop art-inspired, painterly realism.

The Blues Brothers vibe is located at the entrance to Ritchy’s Uptown Restaurant and Bar at 106 W. McGee Street. We didn’t see a date for when the mural was painted or when the upstairs venue opened. We did see that in 1998, John Batchelor wrote a review in the News & Record, titled, “Ritchy’s Sets Standard in Bar and Grill Food.” Leading us to believe that the establishment has been around for nearly 30 years. Ritchy’s has the vibe of a speak-easy type place; a place that people in-the-know take friends. They’ve never done much advertising, but instead build a clientele base that keeps coming back. It has years since we’ve been inside. Now, inspired by Natalie’s mural, we have to go see for ourselves.

Happy Tuesday!
