This is the central view of the life-size nativity scene at Greensboro College. The display is much more elaborate, with pyramids, camels, wise men, and a scene of Mary and Joseph before Jesus was born, the above scene in the anger, and one after he is born, when they are traveling. We wanted to feature this scene, because it is so central to the Christmas story and the display is such a recognizable downtown, Greensboro tradition..

We also remember in 2007 when someone destroyed the figures. But the decades long tradition made a comeback and to this day remains a great Greensboro tradition. It is especially lovely at night when the lights are shining brightly on it.

The memory that this display almost ceased to exist is analogous to the situation with Greensboro Daily Photo. When Typepad shut down, we were worried that our site wouldn’t be able to continue.
