Mary Salem Gabriel Memorial Garden

The above garden is tucked neatly behind St. Andrews Episcopal Church on West Market Street. Mary Salem Gabriel (1889-1978) was married to Deeb Gabriel, who was born in Syria in 1868 and died in Greensboro in 1949. The Gabriels had 9 children. Not much is written about Mrs. Gabriel. We do know that their son, Henry, was a faithful member of St. Andrews. We’re betting that he had something to do with the garden. If any of our readers know, please let us know.

We cannot believe as much as we walk in the Tremont, Kensington, West Market Street area that we have never seen this garden before. It looks so peaceful, a place to pause and reflect, especially in times of need. This is such a nice way to remember someone special

Happy Sunday!
