This was the morning sky yesterday, around 7:00 am heading south on Battleground Avenue close to Cone Boulevard. The McDonald’s sign looms brightly on the horizon.

December 21st is winter solstice, the turn-around day for shorter days. At first, the change will be hardly noticeable, but we know longer hours of daylight will soon be here.

Battleground has seen so much growth lately; someone who has been gone for the last decade would hardly recognize it. The area where Battleground splits to Westover Terrace, at Green Valley, is currently undergoing lots of construction on the west side. Hardees has been replaced by what appears to be an office. Just north of Lucky 32, a building was razed and there is currently an empty lot. Be sure to notice if you are on Battleground.
