Tate Street is conveniently located between Greensboro College and UNCG. Is a space to stop for a cup of coffee, a smoothie, food, something you need from the convenience store, a little retail, and more. Whenever school is in session, you can count on seeing students and professors working and socializing. This photo, oriented in the southern direction of Tate Street, while not an artsy photo, it does capture the look of the street.
In an effort to build even more community and to provide an opportunity for people to make a little money, the “Tate Street Market” has pop up markets, usually on a Saturday near the end of the month (depending on holidays and weather). As you can see, it is held outside and brings people to shop who might not otherwise visit the area.
It was nice to get out and shop local on Saturday. This market also serves as a business incubator for entrepreneurs. It is a way for venders to interact with the public, get feedback on their products, and make some money, before taking a big leap to brick and mortar or establishing an online shop. Remember ’tis the season to SHOP LOCAL, be it Tate Street, Greensboro, or elsewhere.
Can you believe it is already December? To be sure, it is December weather.
