This one-level ranch home, peeking out of the cozy .33-acre, wooded lot, is located at the corner of Lawndale Drive and Cannonball Road. It near Country Park and across the road from The Greensboro Science Center. It was built in 1978, twenty one years after the 1957 opening of the science center. Back in those days, North Lawndale was a sleepy area that seemed WAY far from town. Now, the area is definitely an extension of Greensboro. The name Cannonball Road probably references the Battle of Guilford Courthouse that took place in this area.
There are still some single family homes along Lawndale; however, many homes have been replaced by business and other new construction. To look at the above home, you wouldn’t realize that the now-expansive science center, the Lawndale Veterinary Hospital, and the Greensboro Urban Loop (I-840) are just a hop, skip, and a jump away.
Happy Thursday. Remember, tomorrow is First Friday in Greensboro.
