Autumn 2025 is upon us. According to NC State University, the fall foliage has reached peak in our area. We seen some showy yellows, but not as many reds this year. Perhaps it is different in your neighborhood. Our native persimmons are now edible. We’re having cooler temperatures and by Tuesday of next week, we’re expected to see lows in the mid 20ºs. We are relishing every minute of the color around us, especially on days when there is sunshine.
Try to take advantage of the weather, before it gets cold, and wander out to observe nature. Some of the oldest trees in Greensboro are in Guilford Woods at Guilford College. Did you know the City of Greensboro maintains a Treasure Trees Program (see HERE)? It recognizes the oldest, largest, and rarest trees in the area. The goal of the program is to encourage continued stewarship. Read that linked list to find the location of the tallest trees, the tree with the biggest diameter, and the widest crown spread.
Happy Wednesday!
