Over 10% of the people in Greensboro identify as Hispanic, which is over 30,000 residents. Today is a very special holiday, El Día de los Muertos. It is a day to remember those relatives who are no longer living. There is a belief that a person lives on as long as they are remembered by the living. That can be by way of personal memories, photos, or stories passed on through the generations.
If you want to learn more, visit the African American Atelier at the Greensboro Cultural Arts Center and the displays by Casa Azul starting at 6-9pm today. Also, local Spanish teacher Sandra Cordova is advertising a very special Hispanic Heritage Celebration in High Point the Oakview Recreation Center. It will be held this afternoon from 2-6pm. This latter celebration is more about fashion and hispanic heritage than Day of the Dead, but it is still a fantastic way to connect with the Hispanic community in Guilford County. We are lucky to live in such a diverse community.
Happy Saturday!
