The intersection of Eugene Street and Friendly Avenue looked glorious yesterday with the blue sky and billowy clouds. We looked at this intersection noticing how much it has changed recently. The Eugene Street Parking Deck (on the left) opened in June 2021. The 9-story office building “Project Slugger” opened at the First National Bank Field in November 2020. Hyatt Place, the white building peeking out on the right, opened in March 2019. Finally, the Early Childhood Center, on the right, opened in 1991. It is an outreach program of the West Market Street United Methodist Church. The lot on the left (foreground) as been leveled and will eventually have a building.
Sometimes we take photos like this one, realizing that it is not the best from a photographer’s point of view. However, it does serve to archive a point in time in our city. We wish we had captured this very view 20 or 30 years ago. Downtown Greensboro continues to see many, many changes; an indication that investors see the potential of our community.
Happy Friday, and just think, tomorrow is November!
