Meet Sam LeBlanc. He is the person who transitioned Greensboro Daily Photo from the now-defunct Typepad to WordPress, and, thanks to Sam, we didn’t even have to miss a day of publishing. Sam, born in Louisiana, raised in Chapel Hill, is now married and living in Greensboro. For the last 10 years, Sam has worked at New Media Campaigns, where he has become an expert problem solver. With a custom plug in he wrote, Sam was able to seamlessly migrate GDP to the new site. Soon, he will have our 6,000+ photos/17 years worth of posts archived in WordPress in a way that readers will be able to search and re-read. During his time at New Media Campaigns, Sam has never had to tell a client that he couldn’t solve their problem!

Several years ago, Sam came to UNCG as a music and computer science major. After a hiatus, he has returned to UNCG and is part of the first cohort of degree-seeking students majoring in “Interdisciplinary Studies: Videogaming and Esports.” Sam loves working at New Media Campaigns, which he says is an extremely employee-friendly company. So, even though he plans to stay put in his job, he loves what he is learning at UNCG and especially enjoys the esports community. He is a starter on a JV esports team and a sub on a varsity team.

Greensboro has so many great people like Sam and his wife Sayaka Matsuoka, who is an accomplished journalist. Sayaka is the person who introduced us to Sam. We are so lucky to have them both in our lives. Always remember you are reading these posts thanks to them.

Happy Thursday!
