Last night, twenty Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) teachers from eighteen different countries attended the October meeting of the Beta Delta Chapter of North Carolina Delta Kappa Gamma (NC DKG). This organization for key women educators was established in 1929 in Dallas, Texas. Now, there are DKG chapters in sixteen countries.
The Beta Delta chapter meeting was held in the First Baptist Church of Greensboro. Dinner was served, and educators discussed issues related to teaching in their respective countries. It is so meaningful to discuss needs and advances in the profession and to gain a more global perspective. The international teachers, representing four different content areas (math, language, science, and EC) were placed for a brief co-teaching experience in four different Guilford County schools (Sylvia Mendez Newcomers, Doris Henderson Newcomers, Western High School, and the Middle College at UNCG). Let’s hope the Fulbright program continues into the future and that UNCG continues to be awarded one of the grants to host Fulbright TEA teachers. Truly, the evening was a coming together of key, global-minded educators.
Happy Tuesday!
