In late August, we had a chance to head out to Ai Church, at the corner of Alcorn Road and Highway 68. The Oak Ridge community has done a wonderful job of bringing this building and surrounding property back to live. The above photo features an interior view. While the space isn’t used for regular church services, as you can see, it is well positioned to do so. There are pews and a pulpit/podium off to the side.
There has been a church on the property since the early 1800s with building and expansion happening since 1901. In 2009, the first year of Greensboro Daily Photo, Preservation Oak Ridge purchased the property and in 2019, opened the Ai Church Community Building to the public (reference and read more HERE). It is a beautiful and serene venue.
Happy Sunday!
