There isn’t much cozier than a nice front porch on a warm fall day. The above photo was taken at 210 North Mendenhall Street. Having a walkable sidewalk and well groomed landscaping adds to the curb appeal. The house, built in 1923 appears to have been well taken care over over its 102 past years.
The house is a couple of doors down from what was, for about 25 years, the historic Double Oaks Bed and Breakfast. However, now, the Double Oaks property is owned by Down Home, North Carolina. Down Home is a statewide organization that helps the working, middle-class build power. It is now a community center and an event center.* Perhaps, best of all, Borough Coffee, located on the first floor of the historic home, is open to the public. Every time we’ve gone, it is busy.
The owners at 210 N. Mendenhall can grab a coffee at Borough Coffee, retreat to their porch, and see what the day brings.
Happy Thursday!
