Fishbones at 2119 Walker Avenue in Lindley Park is the kind of neighborhood bar that, to regulars, feels like a second home. The staff is friendly and consistent, always quick and welcoming. Though the space inside is small, covered outdoor seating, on the Elam side of the building , nearly doubles the capacity and adds to the lively atmosphere.
The bar area is especially popular, with TVs for watching sports and waitstaff and regular customers ready for a chat. The menu ranges from fresh fish to burgers and steaks, with weekend specials that keep things interesting. When the lighting hits just right, the cozy setting also makes a surprisingly great backdrop for photos. The wall has a painting with an “old world” look of sailing ships, rough weather, people near the vessel, and a Staffordshire bull terrier. Every time we look at that painting, we notice something different.
Over the years, we’ve featured Fishbones a few times; however, we love the looks of these bar seats with the triangular backs and all of the people enjoying an evening meal.
We hope you have a great weekend. There is so much to do in Greensboro on Saturday and Sunday, from eating at a favorite restaurant, to heading downtown for First Friday, to attending the Art & Sole event in Westerwood to Art Stock to Art in the Arboretum.
