Poppy Popcorn- Pondering a “Greensboro Mix”

Poppy Popcorn- Pondering a "Greensboro Mix"

Over the weekend, a friend came to town from Asheville and brought us some Poppy Popcorn, made in Asheville by Ginger Frank who started her company in 2014. Eleven years later, the company continues to thrive. We even found it at Folly Beach in Charleston, SC. Given that we love Greensboro as much as Ginger loves Asheville, we started thinking about what would be a great flavor combination to get a Greensboro Mix. We tried to crowd-source the idea on our personal social media pages, but haven’t had any responses.

Greensboro does have Chad’s popcorn, which is a similar concept, small batch, gourmet popcorn. They have a Chad’s Mix, but not a Greensboro Mix. Maybe we’ll propose a flavor and call it the Greensboro Daily Photo Mix. Even though we haven’t monetized Greensboro Daily Photo, we learned in entrepreneur training in South Africa this summer that earning money to cover expenses is a good thing in social entrepreneurship, especially if it ensures the continuation of the entrepreneurial endeavor.  However, we aren’t naive and know how hard Ginger, in Asheville, and Chad, in Greensboro, work. For now, we’ll leave the popcorn making to them and consider some other options, like leading tours of Greensboro, or writing a book. Just some food for thought on these Monday musings. What flavor profile would you want in a Greensboro Mix?

Happy Monday!
