The coffee shop was named for Rachel Barlow Taylor, a Guilford College student and former home economics teacher. Her grandson, Guilford College Trustee Fred Taylor provided the philanthropic support to convert the building to a coffee shop.** Rachel’s Cottage is so lovely and the roses are currently in full bloom. We can’t wait to go back when it is open to have a cup of coffee. This building has been repurposed many times. It started out as a coal-fired power plant, was converted as the student affairs building, housed a language lab, became a storage building, was converted to a multi-faith, campus ministry building, and, now, it is a coffee shop. Rachel’s Cottage is absolutely breathtaking in its current iteration.
Happy Thursday!
