Continuing our exploration of North Battleground (NoBa), we want to share another photo from that area. This is the view of the Cone Health facility on Drawbridge Parkway at North Battleground. The red and white building behind the truck is Jake’s Diner. The Cone Health MedCenter has been open a year now- Since May 2022. In a news article about the facility, the following is said: “People can drop a child off for a dose of exercise and learning at Play!, head to their doctor, get in a workout and pick up a prescription while driving out the parking deck. The facility also brings wellness and health care closer together than ever.” Given their mission is to integrate health care and well-being services, with all of the new housing in this area and Well-spring Retirement Community on the same street, the vision of the center seems very sensible AND innovative.

As for Jake’s Diner, it is getting harder and harder to find a home cooked breakfast and Jake’s delivers. It is very convenient to dine here if you are visiting someone at Well-spring, need to use the MedCenter, or during the school year, if you have a child at Kernodle Middle School. This photo makes there area look deceptively green; however, it is, indeed, refreshing to see a retaining pond this clean. The water matches the sky and the blue and green look so lovely together.
