Boating on Greensboro's Lakes

Boating is a great sport and way to keep physical distance. The man in this boat was fishing on Lake Brandt recently. He said he had luck when it was overcast but not once the sun came out. Lake Brandt is one of Greensboro’s municipal reservoirs. It was built in 1925 and named for Greensboro mayor Leon Brandt.* Largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish are the fish most commonly caught in the lake.

The largest bass caught on Lake Brandt, weighed twelve pounds and two ounces (read, here) and was caught by C.T. Boyles in 1967. Perhaps this will be the year for the record to be broken. Can you imagine catching a 12-pound fish on a Greensboro lake? Happy fishing, all three lakes are open today!
