Likely, the stairs are from the stone masonry Andrew Leopold Schlosser. Schlosser was a European who came to Greensboro in 1900 and began making stone structures all around town. Much of his work is made from Mt. Airy granite. Here is an article that will give you more information about Schlosser’s outstanding work, which he never cataloged or documented in any formal way. Schlosser ran his business by word of mouth. Those stairs have been around for many years and, hopefully, they will last for many decades more.
