The Butterfly Effect

Today’s featured person  of Greensboro is  Helene  Avraham-Katz.  Originally from South Africa, Helene  and her  husband settled in Greensboro when  he  came here  to  teach Hebrew and Jewish Studies.  Helene  has battled,  and  beat  pancreatic  cancer twice. Refusing to  let cancer get the best of her, she  opened the Butterfly  Effect on October  26th.  If you know  that building at 3319 Sandy Ridge  Road, the one that  looks like a  gas station  with  old pumps out  front,  that is the Butterfly Effect.  Helene’s store  features  original  art from  35  local, North  Carolina artists. The  store is her happy space  and  she feels so  blessed every day that she is there, every chance she has to  interact with artists, and every opportunity  she has  to  bring joy to  her customers.

Helene is  very  open about her journey  with cancer (read  more,  here)  and  was  so  honored when  all five of her oncology  nurses  came for the ribbon  cutting of  the store.  And that,  is what the butterfly  effect is all about;  good people coming together to support each other and to  celebrate life. Helene is an  inspiration to  us  all. Stop by and meet this incredible person  and purchase a little art  while you are at it.
