Have you made your (shopping) list? Are you checking it twice? The iconic Friendly Center her been growing and changing since it was first built in August 1957. For over 60 years, it has been a major destination for the residents of Greensboro. The above photo features the “new” section, built at the area where Burlington Industries used to have a building.
In the above photo, you see a pair of fiberglass jeans,* a series of artwork representing the textile industry in Greensboro. Behind the jeans is the Santa shed (between Ben and Jerry’s and Harris Teeter). If you drop off a toy for Toys for Tots at Ben and Jerry’s, you get a free scoop of ice cream. You could do that with a child and then take them to get a photo with Santa. Such are the makings of holiday traditions with the little ones. Monday evening, the parking lot was full, as many people were out purchasing food for Thanksgiving. Imagine the energy and deals you will experience on Black Friday. Don your favorite pair of jeans and meet your friends by the jeans!
*The artist is Darlene J. McClinton, M.F.A. and the project was for Wrangler, Cone Denim.
