We need to share another fall photo today because Lake Higgins looked so beautiful with its fall colors, its stillness, and the jet contrails reflecting on the glassy surface yesterday. Monday is a day of rest for Lake Higgins; it is closed to the public. Lakes Townsend and Brandt are open on Mondays. On any given day, at least two lakes are open. Greensboro isn’t a city built around a river or lake, but we do have three beautiful lakes if you travel just north of town.
While the leaf colors this fall aren’t as varied as some years, the rusts and oranges look beautiful against the backdrop of the blue reflecting in the lake. It is nice that the shoreline is protected and people aren’t building at water’s edge. Even when it is busy with people fishing and kayaking, Lake Higgins is a place of great solitude. There is even a trail you can follow that runs along the northern edge of the lake.
Happy Tuesday!
