Mark Abee of AB Seed Inc. knows plants and is ever generous with his knowledge when customers ask. His garden center is located by the farmers’ market at 2914 Sandy Ridge Road. If you notice, AB is a play on his last name, Abee! In the above photo, Mark is helping a customer assemble a garden arrangement of planters and fall mums. Mark gets many of the planters from Vietnam and China and travels to the factories to select the planters. How appropriate this photo was taken on the first day of fall. Mark is a Grimsley High graduate who also attended The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He majored in botany, a major no longer available at the flagship institution. However, in his 45 years in the gardening profession, Mark puts his plant knowledge to work every day.

As fall transitions to winter, his store will become a winter wonderland, with scented candles, Christmas decor, and even clothing. The plush, super-soft pullover jackets are more comfortable than pajamas. Seasons change and seasonal traditions continue; however Mark is perhaps happiest of all over the fact that he is now a grandfather. Truly, he is one of those  lifelong Greensboro residents everyone needs to meet!
