The First, First Presbyterian

Today, a building that was formerly the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro now houses the Greensboro Historical Museum. It is a very dynamic venue featuring permanent and rotating exhibits relevant to local residents, businesses, and events. Even though the building is on the site of the first, First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, it is actually the third First Presbyterian Church on the site. The museum is located at 130 Summit Avenue, downtown next to LeBauer Park. It is open from 2-5 pm today, if you are looking for something interesting and educational to do today. Even though the building is now a museum, many aspects of it retain the feel of a church, including the spectacular stained glass window at the stairwell downstairs.

Currently, there is an exhibit of the journeys and stories of second generation Asian Americans. The exhibit opened in June and will be installed until December 31st. The stories are told from the viewpoint of Greensboro residents of Asian heritage, and is well worth a visit- or two. Also this week, the 5 by O. Henry plays begin in the museum’s theatre. Have a great Sunday, regardless of what you decide to do.
