Evonik, a German company, has a factory located off of South Elm Eugene at 2401 Doyle Street. It is a specialty chemical company, specializing in coatings, bonding agents, acrylic sheets, and other chemical products. It isn’t completely clear what is made in the Greensboro facility. However, from their website and Wikipedia entries, it appears that Evonik tries to be environmentally responsible and to have uniform policies dictating how they treat their employees. They have a worldwide Code of Conduct for all 33,000+ employees; they have a Global Social Policy; and they have an Environment, Safety, Healthy and Quality Policy.
It is so interesting to be driving on South Elm-Eugene Street and happen upon this building. It really does look like a factory in Europe more than something one would find in Greensboro. The billowing WATER VAPOR* blends with the sky on a cloudy, overcast day. The greenery around it sets it apart from the buildings around it. Have you seen this building before?
*If you read the comments, an employee corrected us. This is water vapor, not smoke. Also, the employees are letting us know what a great company this is to work for. Thank you, dear readers!
