We meant to post this in January when U.S. Congressman Coble retired. He served North Carolina for thirty years. The Greensboro native has been an insurance agent and practicing attorney; however, he is best known for his public service. It has been said that Congressman Coble prided himself on representing everyone in his district. When constituents called needing passports quickly, he didn’t ask if they were registered as a Democrat or Republican. He just helped. When college students called to intern in his office in Washington, he didn’t ask if they were registered Democrats or Republicans. He took someone he thought would good for the job. Hopefully, his successor, Mark Walker will continue to serve the 6th district well. Walker, born in Alabama and a pastor by profession, has never held public office before. He has big shoes to fill. We’re not sure where his office is located; however, to be sure, Congressman Coble has left the building (located on the southeast corner of Elm and Cornwalis).
