Greensboro's Solitary Anteater

The anteater looks like something from another world. It is a mammal, but it looks like it could be part reptile. Anteaters are toothless (edente) mammals of the species vermilingua, which means “worm tongue.” They are cousins to the sloth and distant relatives of the armadillo. They eat about 35,000 ants and termites a day. Don’t we all wish we had one for our own yards. However, the above anteater resides at the Greensboro Science Center. Being almost 4 feet long from snout to tail,  this slothlike vaccum cleaner’s size is imposing.

We have just re-joined the Greensboro Science Center and so you can expect to see lots of photos from this  special place on Lawndale Avenue. Seeing the facility, with the SciQuarium addition and reading about the other expansion plans, we are so proud of Greensboro. This is an amazing facility. From toddlers to adults, there is something for everyone. This is not your grandma’s science center!
