This weekend, our cat, who follows us around the yard like a puppy, disappeared. He spent the first night in fifteen years away from home. After three days, we almost gave up hope thinking he had gone off to die. Six days into his disappearance, we received a call from Sheets Pet Clinic. They had our cat. A great series of lucky breaks aligned to bring our senior pet home. A woman on a different street took the cat in. Her friend from Summerfield “adopted” him, after he jumped in her car. The Summerfield woman took the cat to Sheets Pet Clinic for a check up and to establish a relationship with a vet. Sheets scanned the cat and found his micro chip. The micro chip still worked after 15 years. The micro chip company provided the name of our vet. Our vet gave Sheets our phone number. Sheets called and arranged the reunion. 

Through this process, unfortunately, we didn’t get names. We didn’t even see the woman who was going to allow our cat to live out his life with her. If you were involved in the return of our old feline, we thank you, publicly, for helping this disoriented, senior pet back to us to live out his remaining years. The humanity and compassion of the people of Greensboro is grand. Even if you aren’t a cat or pet lover, please know that, often, a lost pet has an owner grieving the loss.
