Boo!
Today, we take you to Elam Avenue, near the corner of Walker Avenue to one of the many houses in Greensboro where Halloween is a holiday favorite. This happy resident of Lindley Park is an example of the great festive spirit exuded in the neighborhood. Lindley Park, established in 1917, has chili cookoffs, food drives, movie nights, street festivals, a facebook page, its own website and so much more. If you have time, read the neighborhood newsletter.
The Lindley Park neighborhood evolved after local businessman John Van Lindley donated 60 acres for a recreational comlex. When the amusement park closed in 1917, a neighborhood was born.* In addition to great human residents, the neighborhood boasts many canine residents like the handsome pooch doing guard duty to the right of the steps. To draw from a JFK quote, perhaps we should ponder, “ask not what your neighborhood can do for you; but what you can do for your neighborhood.” The woman at 504 is setting a great example for all of us!
