First Baptist Church of Greensboro

Today, we feature a view of the steeple at First Baptist Church from nearby Tate Street. While Scott P. Culclasure wrote a history of this church* (The 1859-1999 years), historical information about First Baptist does not appear to be readily available in electronic format. We love it when churches provide historical overviews on their own websites. We have featured First Baptist here and here.

First Baptist is one of those churches that encompasses a city block. The white steeple serves as a landmark on Friendly Avenue. It looks beautiful surrounded by the dramatic clouds on an early March day. Notice the SECU (State Employees Credit Union) sign peeking out, as well as the tree blossoms at the right of the photo. This photo is exactly how we expect the transition from winter to spring to look in Greensboro.

*Culclasure’s book is called “In Every Good Work.”
