Battle of Guilford Courthouse This Weekend

This weekend, Guilford County will be reliving the late 18th century and the Revolutionary War. Reenactors will be pouring into Greensboro right and left for the Reenactment of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. If you are anywhere near Old Battleground or New Garden Road at Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, you can be part of the 230th anniversary weekend. Already, the Revolutionary War Lecture Series is in full swing. Tonight at 7pm Historian Randell Jones will present “Before they Were Heroes at King’s Mountain” at the park’s visitor center. Call 336-288-1776 (like that catchy phone number???) to ensure there will be a seat for you. Same time/same place on Friday, you can attend “Old Ninety-Six, Crossroads and Revolution.”

The schedule for this weekend is filled with camp activities, battles, crafts, music, guided walking tours, lectures, performances and demonstrations. So much to do here; so much to photograph. Call ahead as events might be cancelled or relocated due to weather. The above photo is from last year and the haze is smoke from a nearby battle that was in process. Below, check out the 1:30 video clip.
