Here is the view of the new Guilford County Jail from the parking lot of the downtown YMCA at Washington Street. Construction is ahead of schedule. As you can see (here), we’ve been in the business of jail building since November 9, 2009. See another photo here.  In preparing this post, we were shocked that a data base of all current inmates is available here. The 1,000 bed facility is needed to address overcrowding of the current facility. The cost is almost 85 million dollars. Here is an article in the News & Record from about a year ago.
