Chamomile between Battleground and Horse Pen Creek

These chamomile, daisy-like flowers are often used for tea and medicinal purposes. While chamomile is the national flower of Russia, in the United States, many people consider daisies and chamomile pesky weeds. We photographed these flowers while exploring the swampland between Battleground Avenue and Horse Pen Creek Road. Since you are not supposed to pick wildflowers, we settled for snapping a picture or two and to Earthfare for chamomile tea.

Those pungent, golden centers are our contribution to Mellow Yellow Monday! By the way, the state flower of North Carolina is the dogwood blossom.
