Today, we’re featuring a lovely, well-maintained home at 1014 Jefferson Road. Built in 1977, this house has a yard that is close to half an acre. Yesterday, we were talking about naural yards, as opposed to manicured, treated grass, we thought it fitting to showcase this home with 8 raised beds in the front yard. While the lot is shaded, these wes tfacing beds should get afternoon sun. We can’t wait to see what the owners grow.
If you are ready to take the plant-edibles, raised-bed, no-grass yard, head to one of our local hardware or garden stores and get a few. The galvanized beds offer good soil control, easier watering, and faster spring soil warming, Alot of soil in Greensboro is hard, dense, and heavy due to a high red clay content. It is easier to enhance the soil in a raised bed. Have we convinced you yet? To be sure, if we ever see someone out tending this garden on Jefferson Road, we’re going to pull off the road, run up and talk to them about it.
Happy Wednesday!
