U4GIVEN…

Today’s photo was taken on Battleground Avenue, where Bessemer intersects at Sheets and across what was once Red Cinema. The message, U4GIVEN is a vanity tag that is easy to understand. Forgiveness is a central feature of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. If our online sources are accurate, in Christianity, forgiveness can be unconditional. Judaism and Islam frame forgiveness as possible with acknowledgment and repentance.

Muslims are approaching the end of Ramadan, a month where sins are “burned away” through fasting, prayer, and righteous actions. Passover begins April 1st, and Easter is April 5th. Most of the people with religious affiliation are approaching a holy time. Seeing a local driver reminding us we are forgiven is somehow comforting. There are a lot of vanity tags in Greensboro. Do you have one? A favorite one you’ve seen recently?

Happy Sunday!
