Hyacinths are blooming in Greensboro and they usually last about a week. Potted hyacinths make great gifts as the bulbs can always be planted and the scent is fantastic, truly one of the scents of spring. One of the best things about them is that they tend to be deer and rabbit resistant.
These prerennial spring blooms have been cultivated for centuries and their origin can be traced to Southwestern Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean Region. They should be widely available from local florists, in garden stores and grocery stores in Greensboro. They are a popular purchase for Easter, which is still three weeks away. Once hyacinths bloom, you know azaleas and dogwoods won’t be far behind and it doesn’t get any prettier than spring in Greensboro.
