LF Building, Kress, & The Pyrle

We took advantage of the trees not having leaves to snap this shot in downtown Greensboro on South Elm Street. The photo showcases the Lincoln Financial Group Building. It was completed in 1990. To the right is the Jefferson Standard Building built between 1922 & 1923. The Kress Building was constructed in 1930. The theatre that now houses The Pyrle (formerly Triad Stage) at 232 South Elm Street was constructed in 1936.

The Pyrle opened opened recently and is named for Pyrle Gibson, a local supporter of the arts. In case you are wondering, the name of this music venue is pronounced “Pearl” rhyming with “Earl.” We love the vintage look of downtown and the way that, while the facades are from previous generations, the activities happening inside are very up to date.

Happy Wednesday!
