Are you shopping local? We love the idea of making purchases that help local people. The above photo was taken at The Red Collection on Mill Street. They consigns items, helping local people make a little money for items no longer wanted or needed.

This branch of The Red Collection helps find homes for puppies and kittens. We never see very many animals there at a time, after all, this isn’t their main business. However, today, they had two adorable kittens who seemed quite content in the crate on a table, hoping for a home. We went in to purchase a Christmas cactus and found one that is blooming pink! One of the employees in the store starts plants and the money goes to help with animal adoptions. They don’t make a big deal of it, but quietly try to help the local community in true Greensboro fashion.

The cactus is thriving in an old coffee mug. The saying on the mug resonated with us. “The best DREAMS happen when you’re awake.”
