Burlap Circus Quintet at Common Grounds Coffee Shop in Langley Park

Last night, at Common Grounds on Elam in Lindley Park, quite a crowd came out to support Burlap Circus, a group of five musicians. They were playing some original singer/songwriter songs  with a full band. (The drummer is hidden). They also played instrumentals. The lead singer ‘s voice was very strong. We didn’t get her name, but she is in the middle, playing guitar in the above photo. We can’t find out information about the band online, but we do know that the members are in the Popular Music & Technology Program at UNCG. This program, also known as PopTech was established in 2022. According to their website, the program helps develop students’ skills as performers, singer-songwriters, producers, beat-makers, and composers with a strong emphasis on 21st century technology. It seems like it is a perfect major to prepare musicians for a career in performing.

It was nice to see many students come out and support students in their same program. Also, Common Grounds does a great job of giving musicians an opportunity to perform. While they had Burlap Circus booked for last night, Thursdays is open mic, giving many local musicians, who want to share a couple of songs, an opportunity to perform. As a community, we are lucky, Greensboro has so much live music. We’re guessing Burlap Circle is a relatively new band. We do know we want to hear more music by them as they gave a great performance last night.

Happy Saturday!
